Detroit techno is in da Drug§tore!
DJ STINGRAY
Sherard Ingram is a seminal figure in Detroit’s electronic music scene
with his first material being released in the late ‘80s. The reason
for his international success and solid-rock career has to do with his
passion, dedication, finesse and the ambition to always create a
masterpiece for the audience. Collaborations with Carl Craig (whom he
met while working at the Buy Rite record store), Anthony ‘Shake’
Shakir and Kenny Dixon Jr. in the ‘90s led to his releases as Urban
Tribe. A few years later the legendary duo Drexciya recruited Ingram
as their tour DJ. Ever since, Sherard Ingram performs hidden behind
the SWAT mask to amp the mystery surrounding his talent. Something
which started under special conditions has remained deeply rooted in
DJ Stingray’s appearance and work ethic.
His Urban Tribe debut album ‘The Collapse of Modern Culture’ from 1998
reached a cult status. Although he hides behind the mask, his approach
to collaborations and sharing ideas is what seems to be the secret to
his unstoppable improvement as a DJ over the years. He continued to
work with Gerald Donald AKA Heinrich Mueller of Drexciya since the
passing of James Stinson, who with Donald formed Drexciya. In 2008 he
founded his own label ‘Micron Audio Detroit’ to release and coordinate
talent from all over the globe.
With his goals being to stimulate the minds of listeners, offer a
different view of reality we live in and challenge the actual borders
and divisions that are keeping us all from improvement, Ingram’s work
gets an inevitable political importance. DJ Stingray always had an eye
for his audience in Europe which seemed to show a special kind of
interest in his work which led him to the point where he is about to
visit our raw and honest art hungry beacon ‘Drug§tore’.
Dj Boža Podunavac
A true Belgrade veteran who started his career in 1986 is still one of
the most beloved earthquake makers in the city. He shared the stage
with Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin and Laurent Garnier among
many others. Boža is well known for his fan crowd that doesn't miss a
party he plays at.
Vitanov (Beyond House)
Beyond House member and an emitter of deep weird vibrations, mixes all
things dark into a wizard's brew for you to drink. You cannot really
tell if it's industrial, techno or house. As long as it's
god-forsaken, Vitanov will play it. His tasty collection of demented
vocals and beats without authority are what gives him a reputation of
one of Belgrade's favs among dreamy imaginative spiritual dancers.
LULE (Kompleks)
Lule is famous for his eclectic sets that go from electro to obscure
disco and forest techno. You just never know. As one part of the duo
Kompleks (with Schwabe), Lule produces slow darkness for strippers of
the world.
